Beypore; an ancient shipbuilding beach

An ancient ship building centre, beypore beach is situated in Northern Kerala, India. A beautiful expanse of vast land and turquoise blue sea, one cannot miss Beypore beach when in Kerala. Calm and tranquil, Beypore cannot be missed in Kerala tour map.

Beypore Beach had been a centre for shipbuilding for centuries, may be more than a thousand years. The boats that are carved out from the boat yard of Beypore called “Urs” have been known as far as the gulf regions and the Middle East.

He beaches are also idle for relaxing the mind and the body as the beach is very calm. A major attraction is its magnificent two km long stone bridge, making a pathway into the sea.

Another attraction around Beypore beach is Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, which is about seven kms away. The kadalundi estuary is a birdwatchers paradise.

The nearest airport is at Karipur, about 23 kilometers from Beypore. The beach is well connected with rail and road with all the major cities.
