Shanghumukham Beach; a pleasant spot

Shanghumugham Beach on the Western part of Thiruvananthapuram city in Kerala is one of the favourite tourist spots. The huge sculpture of a 'Nymph' (Jalakanyaka) is one of the greatest attraction in the beach.
Shanghumugham Beach is really a beautiful beach to see watch the sun go down the horizon.

Kappad Beach; trace the beginning of European expedition

Wrapped in history, Kappad beach is where you can trace the beginning of European expedition of India. It is at Kappad beach that Portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama set his feet in 1498 along with 170 men, marking the beginning of new relations between India and the European countries.

But at Kappad, one cannot come across any significant monument to mark this history except for a stone pillar with an inscription "Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498".

Kappad has always remained calm and still remains calm. Though there is not much to do here at the Kappad beach but you can step down where Vasco da Gama stepped in, heralding a new beginning of colonisation. An interesting aspect of the landscape is the sprawling rock that protrudes into the sea.

Cherai Beach; a delightful combination of silver sands, backwaters and green fields
